eef on occasion. She has no human or other food othger than what I mentioned above. Just lately, I've noticed numerous bumps on her skin, primarily on her back, which appear almost like a form of acne. In some areas, each raised bump of skin loses hair as a well, causing some small patches of skin to show through her coat.
Is this part of the development process for Boerboels? Does their coat regenerate? I don't have any reason to suspect allergies and her vet does not appear concerned, though she does not have an explanation for the skin condition. Someone suggested some form of folliculitis (sp?) related to her coat maturing.
If anyone reading this has had any similar experience with their pup and can shed any light I'd be very grateful! Picture below....
Cheers,
Mike

nder because they did not want to keep taking him to the vet for his skin problems, of which they did not get to the bottom of. He is constantly itching everywhere- his belly and under his chin are covered in red bumps and he is missing most of his hair on his hindquarters, belly, chest and front legs. I have since taken him to my female Boerboel's vet, where they have done a skin scrape (no mange or yeast growing), put him on antibiotics and Hydroxyzine (antibiotics for the skin infection he now has from scratching so much), and given him a shot of ivermectin. I also have an allergy shampoo they gave me that's supposed to help soothe his skin that we've done twice so far. My vet seems to think the issue is most likely allergies. I have also started him on a grain-free food (he is eating great!). My question is has anyone had a similar experience with their Boerboel's skin, and does anyone have any other recommendations? It just breaks my heart to see him scratch himself until he bleeds and be in such obvious discomfort. I realize it's probably going to take time for him to heal but would love any helpful advice from anyone that's had a similar issue with their dog!…
der her collar, which we thought maybe the collar has gotten wet. When we went to the vet for her inoculations she was scratching terribly and we were given antibotics and she was on quarterzone for a while. This did help for a while but as soon as they were finished she started up again, actually worse, her skin looks like she has hives or pimples all over her body. Thank heavens she does not scratch as much anymore but when I brush her with the flea comb, lots of scabs come off her skin. I was feeding her Eukaniba food and I have changed to Royal Canine but the problem is still there. Has anybody had any similar problems? …

6.5 mos pup had skin problems since i got him at 2mos old. And it turned out that a lot of boerboels in Russia suffer from food allergies or other skin problems.
When I brought the puppy home, i fed him with homemade meals(meat, milk products, cereals, vegetables + vitamins & minerals) dry food was given only once a day. After few weeks I had to bring him to the vet with the skin problems. He was diagnosed with pyoderma. The dermotologist's verdict is that pyoderma is the outcome of the allergie. Now we are trying to diagnose the origins of this allergy (food, environment, parasites etc)..…
"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy. First off have you taken her to the vet? Do they know of the situation? Have they taken a urine sample? If your girl has a UTI…"
Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
