Welcome James, Your a lucky guy their are several breeders in your area. I commend you for wanting to do therpy work, with a BB your going to have your hands full training them to be calm, also going to need softer, more relaxed pup. Good luck and welcome again. Peace.

Hello, and welcome everyone, I hope you enjoy the site!  For those new owners or soon to be boerboel owners, be sure to check out our New Boerboel Owners group.  There are other member created groups worth looking at as well.  You may also want to check out our Info page for great information on health, diet, and training tips.  If theres anything I can be of help with, please let me know.

Thanks for the warm welcome Marco. I'm not currently a boerboel owner but is looking for a pup. I've been checking most of the breeder sites and have spoken to a few people so maybe, very soon I may be a proud dad of 3 instead of 2.

Hello everyone, my name is Delia and I have grown up with Boerboels since the day I was born!

I currently own four Boerboels: Bellbusk Xander (10 years), Corga Ayliff (8 years), Giants of Africa Keanu (9 months) and the newest addition to our family, Giants of Africa Jade who is 8 weeks old.

All four of them have the best temperaments and I love them more every single day!

Hi everyone, I'm Cynthia just here to network! I own quite a few boerboels I'm planning to get a piebald pup around feb. I love them, they are wonderful dogs!
I am a wife of a disabled/retired Navy Chief. My daughter came home one summer with a cute puppy and said it was a mastiff. Everyone laughed at her, her obedience coach told her Sweet Pea was a mutt and would not grow up to be a mastiff. She did not care, she adored this little tan pup and carried him with her everywhere she went. She joined K-9 Search and Rescue and trained him to find children. I was his point guard and ran and hid in trees, round in circles in woods and swamps in Florida, to train him. He always found me straight away and be so proud! She moved to Texas and he went with her. He disappeared from her yard one day and her heart was weeping cuz he was no where to be found. Four days later she came home and it looked as if a wild animal had torn her wooden door to pieces, and who sat inside, covered in wet mud. Yup, Sweet Pea. But he was never the same, he had a phobia about feet, anyone who came in, he tried to eat their feet and sent several to the hospital. He came to live with us as he would not let a date near her. We loved him so much, he played with Dolly our chihuahua nicely then would suddenly bite her in his exuberance. He was having seizures, always right after he did something like this. We kept him to ourselves and put up a see thru door where he could see but not eat our guests. I was online, always, and found a picture of my boy! I was SO excited, you see, he was a mastiff, Boerboel mastiff, and there were other dogs that looked exactly like him. I held him as he passed, my husband was so upset he could not, he kept saying, "I really loved that damned dog!" I came here to look at your pictures and relive the love we felt for our Sweet Pea, who was anything but!!

What an endearing story....so sorry for your loss :(

Roland, just do your homework and I mean it may take you a year or more to find what you are looking for in a Boerboel. There are many unscrupulous breeders out there just trying to make a buck. They will promise you the world. Joining this group is a huge plus. Ask questions and read read read! Good luck!

My Axel has a tail. David Harris docks some and leaves some intact tails if you are interested in a working Boerboel with a great temperament and health. He breeds on the smaller side for agility and healthy joints. I know Dichotomy Boerboels also does not dock tails but they breed protection work dogs with a lot of drive. My boy has a medium drive.

Hi Lisa! Most definitely. I've been doing some research for the past few months and will be for another six months. Just need to find out who will work with me on getting a pup with a tail. Thanks for the tip.

A bored boerboel is a bad boerboel-INDEED!!!!

Blake, why would you want a cross breed instead of a full bred Boerboel. It really isn't wise imo and the Boerboel world really frowns upon it. I took a look at the web site and it seems that this guy will cross just about anything, why? I don't get it. Just my opinion.

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting.  Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy.  First off have you taken her to the vet?  Do they know of the situation?  Have they taken a urine sample?  If your girl has a UTI…"

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
