Top Boerboel's Great South Africa Boerboel Tour

Several of us here are planning to take a trip to South Africa to visit breeders, and friends that  we have made on this site.  Please post here if you are interested in joining or hosting a group of us to stay while we are there.  We also need to hear from breeders that will welcome us to come visit, and view their boerboels for the day or maybe just a couple of hours.  As of now it will be sometime next year 2013, still working out the details.  This post will be here for the discussion of the trip, to make plans, and so on.  More information to come!

 

Those interested in hosting, or allowing us to come by to view your boerboels please list a general location so we can start to map out our event.  Thank you!

I started an event on Facebook but for some reason it was created with the wrong date.  You can find the event, and discussion here.  I sent out over a thousand invites letting people know about it.  I may try and setup a new event soon with correct date.

No date set yet Leon, up to discussion with everyone who is interested in going. Would like to hear from some of our friends in SA when they feel would be the best time of the year to visit. Then we can see what works for everyone.

Gents. What month is a good month to visit SA?
I mean like weather and when people are not to busy (i.e. local holidays is not a good time to go to Mexico) etc.

The best time to visit SA is from feb to mrch.Because there are no school holidays.Oct to Nov is also a good time.While we are on this topic i think you can try and see if you can meet Lood Minnie of Cabaret boerboels ,he is based in Potchefstroom.I stay about 17 km from him on a smallholding.If you are looking for any place to sleep,we have accomodation for about 22 people.Am not asking for money ,just would love to help boerboel friends. William thank you for your reply, and offer to help out for this event.  Everyone has been so kind, and I am very excited to visit as many places as possible.  I hope that those who are interested in going, and helping out will start to take part in this discussion so we can start to make plans.  Look forward to hearing from everyone.

Another couple of things for those interested in hosting a group of us in SA, could you please list your location.  Also any breeders that would welcome us to just come by and see their boerboels for a few hours or the day, please let us know as well.   That way we can start to map out our trip.  Thank you!

Hi Marco myself and Dries are based in somerset west and are about 10 minutes or so from stellenbosch , we are along the wine route ,so i hope you guys like wine lol . by the time you guys arrive our new kennels will be finished and we will have at least 6 rooms available for you guys to use at the guest house , so if you dont mind sharing im sure we can make a plan. i will be more than happy to be your tour guide around the cape , will be alot of fun , Im Sure between Dries and myself we would be able to take you to most of the breeders in the cape , i will have to follow Dries thats for sure as i am still visiting them myself so i cant wait for you guys to get here so i can see them as well . lol

We would love to meet up with you somewhere along the trip to meet The Family. Won't need accommodation or flights as we'll be driving in from ZImbabwe. And if anyone wants to come up to Harare for a holiday afterwards, you are most welcomed to stay with us. We have 4 extra rooms

Marco, I just read about your tour and you are more than welcome to come and visit and stay over as well. I can also help in arranging visits to any breeder that you want to visit. Just let me know when you are planning the tour and what you want me to do.

With my girls usually be in heat in May and November +/- few weeks and puppies at home in 60 days + 8-week, good time time for me would sometimes in October 2013 or April 2014.
We are waiting for Gella (ETA next week), so this year budget fully "wiped." :-)
However, Next year looks more promising.  Thanks
