I am hoping to get some good feedback,The ABC (American Boerboel Club) is trying to host a Temp Test, this link will tell you a little about the test, http://atts.org/tt-test-description/ and since only 18 have been tested, and there 1000's over here I would hope people would like to test their dogs. The tricky part is, that since this would be the clubs 1st test, we need at least 30 dogs to preregister (this test is open to ALL breeds and Mixed breeds) and we the club needs at least 10 volunteers to work the stations of the test. Our goal is to offer this test along with a Herding test next year in May. To take the temp test, it does not matter who the dog is registered with, but the dog MUST be 18 months or older. Before we go further with the ATTS, I wanted to get a feel of the attendance/participation we might draw in. The test would be held in the Winchester VA area the 1st weekend in May 2012. I know there are a lot of breeders here on the east coast and this would be a great chance to prove breeding stock (temperament wise).
Again, we would need 30 dogs and 10 volunteers, please let me know if you would enter this event, and/or if you'd be able to help with the test. Volunteers would only need to maybe sit and open an umbrella, or walk up to some one and say hello and shake hands. Either respond here or rottymom@verizon.net
Thanks-Kay

Kay I have looked into the ATTS and I would love to take my dog to one as soon as we have it in Chicago area. I really really would like to see breeders enter their dogs. EBBASA are working on creating the correct temper test specific for boerboels, until then I saw the ATTS and I think it is a great test to take and see how your dog will do.
I'm in Kay. Love to have it in DC area though long ride. LOL Be well and HBD to ya. Peace Lee

FYI the ABC plans to host an AKC Herding test, to include basic instinct tests, CGC tests and ATTS temp test the weekend of May 5/6 2012, we would also have a "fun night" at the hotel with weight pull demos, protection dog demos, carting, rally and maybe tracking demos as well. The goal is not only to bring BB owners, breeders and lovers together for a fun weekend, but a productive weekend as well. To get people more involved with their dogs by showing them different fun activities they can do, get a better feel for the basic temperaments on certain breeding stock/bloodlines, so all can make better decisions in the future and to try to offer events and testing that will better our beloved breed.
@Lee, 2 dogs? and thanks :)

Herding instinct test info, dogs MUST be registered with the AKC and be at least 9 months of age at date of show:

Section 5. Instinct Tested Certificate. The
American Kennel Club will issue an Instinct Tested certificate
to an eligible dog that has been certified by two
different Judges to have qualified by passing two separate
licensed or member Herding Instinct Tests.

Section 6. Instinct Test Description and Test
Elements. The dog is brought into the arena on a long
line approximately 6-15 feet in length. At some point
while on the line, the dog must demonstrate a stop (down,
sit or stand) and a recall before the line is dropped or
removed. A dog, which cannot be recalled, shall not be
let off line. Dogs must be immediately removed from the
ring if physical force is necessary to protect stock from
the dog.

This sounds awesome! We are in, as long as its open to unregistered BBs as well. I love this idea!

anyone can enter the temp test as long as they are at least 18 months of age, the herding instinct test is open the AKC registered dogs, this event will take place near Winchester VA the 1st weekend in May 2012

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting.  Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy.  First off have you taken her to the vet?  Do they know of the situation?  Have they taken a urine sample?  If your girl has a UTI…"

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
