MY BOY BARON DROOLS NOT A WHOLE LOT BUT I'VE NOTICED THAT MY FEMALE MILEY DOESN'T DROOL (NOT THAT I WANT HER TO DROOL-LOL). I AM JUST CURIOUS AS TO WHY. IS THIS NORMAL. WHEN SHE WAS SIX MONTHS OLD SHE WAS FIXED. DOES THAT BEAR ANY WEIGHT ON THE DROOLING ISSUE OR SIMPLY FEMALE BOERBOELS DON'T DROOL. WOULD LOVE FEEDBACK. THANKS AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

hi jeanette
i think drooling has more to do with the jowls the males are more likely to do it because there lips are not as tight though my female drools alot

Hello Jeannette! My Male boerboel only seems to drool some after eating, and drinking. I thinks it has a lot to do with the structure of their mouths as Ashley mentioned. At times he can get it all over the place on him and myself :)

Hi, drooling for me is how stable they are, but a lot will disagree with me. I have adopted a 3year male about 6mth ago - he was unstable very much insecure - he drooled like a tap that was opened! And with in the first week he fitted into our family and stopped drooling! And he was a hand full to pull straight!!
My 1year also drools - but only when he is existed or stressed!
Does he wait for his food - with out any excitement!
For me its all in the stability of the pack!
I think drooling is definitely due to jowls. I have two males and the one with tighter lips only drools when he is salivating for his food. The other with the looser jowls, drools when salivating, after eating/drinking, and randomly!!

Hi, my male drools like a tap and its unreal how just one small treat can do it, he also drools a bit in the warm weather, especially if he runs around. I have to wipe his mouth before he comes inside so have towels inside, outside and in the car. He does have loose jowls.

Hi there,
I have 3 boerboel bitches. Each of them drool but 1 more than the other two. Lunar has looser jowels than the other two and she drools all the time BUT she is an exciteable / high energy bitch and I think this is also a contributory factor. Mona's lips are very tight but when she is excited about food or treats she drools more than the other two. Sahara's mouth is close to perfect for me her jowels are not too tight and not too loose either and she drools moderately and only when she is waiting for her food but not when she is stressed or excited.
Personally I feel it varies from dog to dog. Some just tend to drool more than others!
