We brought a towel to clean her up a little bit before putting her in the car, fresh water bottle with a dish so she could get a drink before we headed home and most importantly your license and any documents about the flight information and purchase of the dog in case we encountered any problems at customs. All three times we have picked up a dog at the airport we showed up about an hour before the flight lands to get through customs (may take five min., may take half an hour) just to be safe. The kennel they came in was great for transportation, but you will need to bring a vehicle with enough room for it. The dogs paperwork is going to be taped onto the kennel so make sure to take it off and store it somewhere safe before you leave. I would call ahead to check for any customs or processing fees and be sure to check the flight status throughout the day to make sure it doesn't get in early. We too were worried about the stress of the long flight, but after you take your pup home they will forget all about the flight! If there is anything else I can think of I will be sure to let you know and let me know if you have any other questions! Good luck!
Hi. I am very happy that I found this site. I became a member last year when I was looking into the Boerboel breed. I was so impressed with everything I read about these amazing dogs. I am happy to say that I am now a Boerboel owner. I have an amazing 10 month old female Boerboel. She is such a great dog. I couldn't ask for a better companion.
Thanks for all of the great information on the site. So many of my questions have been answered here.
Hello, my name is Simone. I was born and raised in Germany. I have lived in the USA sine 1997. I will be receiving my first Boerboel on 08/31/13 . I'm very excited . She is a black female name Schatzi. I have always owned 100% German Rottweilers. My last one died in 2009. I first encountered the boerboel in Germany( while we were stationed there) as my new neighbors moved in with this large beautiful brindle colored male and they had no idea what he was since they adopted him from a kill shelter in MD ( My neighbors were US military also). I fell in love with this dog and his temperament. I started looking for this dog online and finally found out what he was ...a Boerboel!!! His owners were told that he was a rotti / pittbull mix when they adopted him, but I right away knew that couldn't be the case he was too massive standing there with 195lbs. So I always wanted one but being military we were not able to due to restrictions all over the world and on military bases for mastiff breeds. So now that Retierement comes close and we know that we wont move around anymore I can finally own one. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from this page . Have a nice day
Welcome Mike. There are only a handful of reputable breeders that health test and temperament test their breeding stock. I would start there when asking questions. You won't want a huge hulking BB if you want him to run with you. My boy is only about 110# @ 2 years old. He would be a bit larger if I hadn't had him neutered. But, he can run and has endurance unlike some BB's that get tired from walking around the block. I got him from DK Harris in Kansas. He has a great temperament and is not dog aggressive at all. I suggest doing a lot of homework and visiting breeders before you make a choice. Don't fall for all the hype. There are a lot of $hit talkers out there for breeders who just want your money and they will say anything to get it. Good luck!

Hello to all,
I am from a suburb in Illinois west of Chicago.
I am married to Margaret and have5 children 3 of my own and 2 stepchildren, youngest 15 oldest 21.
I feel in love with the boerboel breed because of everything I've been reading.
I have been a dog lover since 5 years old
I've had German shepherds, doberman pinchers and mutts but I have always wanted a mastiff or a bull mastiff but now that I am a runner these 2 breeds wouldn't work 4 me so here is where the boerboel came into my life a dog thatcabn run with me and be my companion.
I am committed to all the training that one would need at this time.
So I joined too boerboel to find a quality breeder with a puppy that fits all of my needs.
can someone help me?
Thanks all
Mike
Hello! I am new to the site! I don't think I've ever seen a Boerboel in person, but my husband and I are looking into getting one in the near future. We have a female Akita that is 9 1/2 yrs old, so we would want a pup. I may be asking lots of questions! My biggest question is, do they drool a lot or just when mad or hot? lol
