Hello everyone my name is Daniel. Im new to the forum and im excited to be here. I live in Atlanta, Ga. I currently own a beautiful GSD and love the breed but I have a new found love of boerboels. Hi I am Janice from Port Elizabeth, South Africa and my family are great boerboel lovers.  We unfortunately had to put our beloved boerboel of 10 years down last year as she had such bad hips and arthritis problems and eventually could not walk anymore.  We knew that we wanted to get another boerboel, and we ended up buying 2 puppies.  I have one tan boerboel, Shakira who will be 6 months on 25 January and then we have a black boerboel, Bella who will be 4 months on 23 January.  They are both beautiful and have the most fantastic natures.  This is what we love about the breed, they are gentle giants and make a great addition to our family.  The one reason why I wanted to join the group was because my tan boerboel has a skin problem, she has pimple looking bumps on her skin and then when I brush her a lot of scabs come off.  I have had her at the vet and they gave us antibiotics and quarterzone which helped for a while but it is has come back.  She does not scratch as much as she used to but it still irritates her.  I was wondering if anybody else had a similar problem and what the solution would be?  Glad to be part of this group, Janice

Hi everyone,

I am Matina and a fairly new Boerboel owner. My Boerboel is 7 months old and we got him when he was 9 weeks. We also own a Rottweiler ( 8) and an American Bulldog ( 7). We first came across the breed on one of The Dog Whisperer's shows and we instantly fell in love with the looks of this breed. We did a lot of research before we decided to get one and we are still learning a lot about the breed. I actually have to get used to the guarding instincts in this breed. Even though my other dogs are guarding they never make a noise unless it is really important! The Boerboel on the other hand will hear a needle fall on the second floor of our home and instantly start barking. He usually scares me more than make me feel comfortable...LOL ...I hope I will learn a lot more about the breed to better understand him and hope for lots of input if I do have questions...Oh and my neighbor actually bought his brother ( he was already 5 months at the time ) which is great because they are able to see and play with each other daily.
