Nequia, Here is a pic of my female when she was 5-6 wks. old. As you can see her eyes look Blue as a pup. They weren't just reflection. Hope this will ease your concerns. Lets see if I can post it here.

They are brown in person. Good luck and Peace

Marcella, SABT says nothing about ridge color which can be darker then coat color. What I have read is just what I stated, simply eye color should equal coat color at least. Yes eye color does change as dogs get exposed to sunlignt and growth ect. to develope more pigment in the iris. I'm not sure what fault you find it what I said. If SABT has changed their rule since 4 yrs. ago to include ridge color must equal eye color  or it is disqualification please let me know. We also know there is no such thing as guarenteed breed quality from birth. It is a sales ploy simply put. Peace Lee

Lee, as you can see... we are speaking of just a wee puppy... and the eyes are very clearly still changing color at this point in the game... if the eye color was a crystal clear bright light blue.. I would be more concerned... and just to clarify.. the eye color of an adult dog should " ideally " be no lighter than the ridge color down the middle of the dog's back.. not the pelt color ... just for clarification... but again... I don't see any issues at this stage of the game.. my main concern is that out of a litter of three all THREE are considered breeding quality.... THAT IS AMAZING QUALITY.. and I am dying to know more about the lines where this came from.

Dogs typically take lighter eye pics due to reflective eye film so they can see at night. The rule of thumb is eye color should not be lighter then coat color in person. I think you are fine. If you are still concerned as for pics without flash or on video so you can judge for your self. Good Luck He's a cuttie! Peace Lee

Thank you Marcella!!

He is 6 wks in this picture. I did purchase him as a breeding quality puppy. He is coming from a well know breeder in SA. The breeder told me that his eyes were fine and that his eye color is not the shade that will disqualify him. There were only 3 puppies in the litter and they were all of Breeding Quality

I am so excited!!

How old is he in this picture.. Boerboel puppies eye color continues to change upwards of about 4-5 months old...if they are a darker blue leaning towards black at about 10 weeks old.. then they should go brown.. if they are a lighter blue at the 10 - 11 week old mark they will may likely turn a shade of amber.

Did you purchase this pup as a breeding quality puppy? If so.. how many other puppies from this litter are breeding quality?

If this pup was not purchased as anything other than a companion.. do not worry yourself at all... TRUST ME... there are bigger issues to deal with, when you are looking at the boerboel!

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting.  Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy.  First off have you taken her to the vet?  Do they know of the situation?  Have they taken a urine sample?  If your girl has a UTI…"

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
