I bought my pup at Electric Boerboels www.electricboerboels.com and it was a very pleasant experience. They have great dogs with great pedigrees. There is also a place here in Hamilton that I really like called Proudfoot Boerboels www.proudfootboerboels.weebly.com They have very nice dogs as well, and the lady knows everything there is to know about boerboels, she's helped me a lot and she's here at Top Boerboels!
ONe more thing, if you are getting a Boerboel... if you want one with a good temperament, make sure you see the parents first. My dog's parents were both gentle giants, and my dog is turning out just like them.
Gloria has been so easy to train, but I had a lot of experience with my Jindo first. A jindo is similar to an akita. Boerboels are eager to please their owners. As long as you play the alpha role, it's not hard at all. The key is consistency. I follow a very strict routine with my two dogs. I always feed one before the other, the dogs cannot touch their food until I say ok, and everyone in the family leaves the house including myself before I allow the dogs to come out, and even then, the jindo comes out before the boerboel. Boerboels have very subtle dominance traits, they'll sit on your foot, they'll bud in front of others to get your attention. If you can nip these sorts of things in the butt, everything falls into place. Mind you, Gloria hasn't reached 9 months yet, after her first heat, she may get a bit stubborn, I'll just remain consistent with my rules and she'll bound back at about 12 months. Have a look on the internet for dog training videos, or read some books. There is a book about Boerboels on the SABT site which I grabbed, which is very informative. I'll leave that with you for now... there are others on this site that are far more experienced than myself about boerboels and their training, just keep asking questions and you'll know when you're ready!
Hi Gary; neat to see you here; I live in Port Colborne, Ontario and I own a daughter of the dog on your profile. How interesting to see her picture as yours. Do you own Hannah aka Afrika's Tina? She's a beautiful dog; but I was sure someone else owned her?

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy. First off have you taken her to the vet? Do they know of the situation? Have they taken a urine sample? If your girl has a UTI…"
Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
