Hello Carol I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your boerboel. We went through something similar last year with our boerboel. He lost his appetite, and I knew something was wrong cause he never skips a meal. Took him to the vet, and then to a specialist, which they found something lodged in his intestine. They said he most likely would need surgery to get it out. I took him home, and I decided to wait one more day. That night we got lucky, he ended up passing it. I was out backyard with a flashlight following him around all night. Some how he got ahold of a large tube sock, and ate it without any of us knowing. Still not sure how he got ahold of it. We are normaly really careful about some stuff like that, cause Kenzo has always been a vacuum around the house. These large breeds can get all kinds of stuff in their mouth. Once again very sorry for your loss of your beautiful boerboel.

We just lost our 2 1/2 year old male. He was diagnosed with severe pyoderma and severe pododermatis. He was the gentlest most loving dog. He had been on a special diet, medication, foot baths, and other treatments. He had a loss of appetite and was on medication for that also. He regained his appetite and then ate everythin in site. He ended up having emergency surgery due to his eating misc items and having it lodged in the intestine and then having the intestine rupture. Has anyone ever had any kind of experience similar to this?
Our boy was a wonderful pup and he is missed by his mom, dad and also his sister that is a female boxer.
We are considering another pup but would consider a foster or adoption of a boerboel
"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy. First off have you taken her to the vet? Do they know of the situation? Have they taken a urine sample? If your girl has a UTI…"
Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
