I am not a pro at this, and these are just some of my thoughts to help.  I recommend talking with others, and reading up on this as much as you can.  Very important that this is done right.  Please feel free to add or correct anything you might have knowledge on to share.  Hope this is helpful some, Thanks!

Many new boerboel owners will be bringing home their boerboel to a house that already has an existing dog.  May be another boerboel (cause we know how addicting they are) or another breed entirely.  This is something not to take lightly, and in some cases may not work.  This can be difficult, even dangerous to your dogs or yourself if not handled properly.  Some people may get lucky in doing this without proper steps.  Most of the time problems will occur, and bad choices are made because of it.  Better to step into this with a plan of action than to leave it to chance.  Dogs are pack animals, and some of their instincts come into play when bringing a new dog into the home such as being territorial.  A fight can break out because of this, and you DO NOT want this to happen.  Once this happens you will have a lot more work on your hands than just introdcing your dogs to one another.  You want to take your time, and bring them together slowly.  Here are some steps to take.

Meet up on neutral ground - If you are able to meet up in a park or place both dogs have never been.  Keeping both on a collar, and leash at a distance.  Making sure you have complete control over both of them.  This will require two people, one with each dog on a leash.  Do not be in a rush, give them time to check out the area first as well.  If your dog growls, barks, lunges, and so on, then you are to close.  Always give priase when they are in good behavior.

Get dog crates for both dogs - Start off with the new dog secured in their crate in an open area of the house.  Bring the other dog in on a leash for control, and allow them to check each other out.  Give praise and corrections as needed.  Be careful to not intensify the situation by your actions, and emotions.  Stay calm, relaxed, and in charge.

Out in the yard - Use a fence or kennel to divide them.  One on each side allowing them to run up and down the fence.  I would suggest keeping leashes on them if needed for control.  I used a kennel when introducing Kenzo to a new dog.  It worked very well, and it was not instant.  I did this over several days if not weeks.

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting.  Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy.  First off have you taken her to the vet?  Do they know of the situation?  Have they taken a urine sample?  If your girl has a UTI…"

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
