I am picking her up in Georgia Sat...she is a puppy...8 Weeks old.....I have 2 chihuahuas and a dachshund. no small children in household, just me and my daughter....I have a 7 yr old grand daughter that lives locally. We have a smaller fenced yard....putting a lock on gate and Koda will only be out when we are with her...for her safety as well as others. We have a crate for here...this is how I train all of my dogs, and they follow a schedule, which they pick up on by themselves. koda will begin obedience classes in January after she has had all of her shots.
welcome to the forum
wow grats on your little girl. i am going to agree with kate about the training. there is alot you can do at home, sit, down, heel, no, out, and wait for instance.socialization is very very important start that as soon as you can to.there are places you can go that are not germ factories like dog parks or petsmart after you get your first set of shots. these guys grow very fast and a 18 to 25 lb puppy is easier to handle then a 40 to 60 lb one. i would also start thinking about trainers, esp if you never had a dominate type molloser before they can be a bit of a shock to the system.
you are going to find boels play rough which can be a challenge for you, if you have small dogs they can be snippy with bigger dogs for good reason. they dont like to be steppped and jumped on, they are also alot more fragile i have a min pin and i have to watch them very closely. i would suggest you watch them very carefully at doors and gate cause it is very easy to have a little dog get trampled and hurt. please dont let your puppy trample charge head butt or body slam you little ones. its easy for a boel to send a litttle dog bouncing and tumbling several feet before anyone knows what happened.
please feel welcome and free to pick our brains if you have any questions thats what we are hear for
Kind Regards
Ashley
