Boerboel Diet

Boerboel diet seems to be an ongoing discussion here, with good reason.  Most everyone feels that it is very important to properly feed, and care for your boerboel.  We show this by the type of food they eat, supplements they take, proper amount of food given, and exercise.  I'd like to make this post a dedicated topic for this type of discussion.  It does not matter if you feed raw, kibble, or table scraps everyone is welcome to join in, and give their thoughts.  What does matter is that we are always sharing, learning, and helping one another, to take better care of our boerboels.  If you don't find what you are looking for in this discussion, keep in mind we already have plenty of other places here to look.  I will list some of those places below which I think will be of great help to you.  Some example of these are the Raw Feeding Group, Diet Info Page, and the section in our forum Boerboel Diet.  You can also create your own group, page, and post if you choose.  I hope you will join us in this discussion.

I feed dry kibble along with eggs and rice.  She takes 2 Vitamins of Bully Max before every feeding  and  another supplement called Muscle Up.  She eats Diamond Extreme Athlete Dog food.  32% Protein 25 % Fat.  ..  Total She gets 4.5 cups of Dog food, 2 cups of rice, 2 raw eggs along with Salmon Oil mixed in for her coat.

 

I would love to feed raw but I havent found anyone in NC where I can get it from for an affordable price. 

 

She is extremly active as she runs free on about 4 acres all day so she is greatly toned and her weight is where it should be.

It would be nice to see someone here on the site create a active Kibble Feeding Group.  A place where members can go, and discuss types of food other than raw.  Discussions on the best brands, what ingredients to stay away from, recalls, and more.  You would have full control of the group to do what you like.  If there is anyone who would like to start this group, you can do so by going here Create a Group.  I know not everyone feeds raw, and this would be a big help to those members.  We should always work towards feeding the best we can!

Good call Marco! I would love to see a group here dedicated to Kibble. Although it may not be the best option, it can be the only option for some people at this time. I will help as much as I can if someone wants to start it up.

Sorry, I've been away for a while and didn't see this. If you were to get the meat from Armellino's K9, the only thing you would need to add to make it complete is 10% organs. I believe they have an organ mix also. I don't do organs daily--it's such a small amount that I feed them twice per week. For instance....my girl eats 14 lbs/week so she gets 1.4 lbs of organs per week. This week she got kidney 0.7 lbs on Sunday and she'll get liver 0.7 lbs Thursday or Friday.

Along with the raw diet I feed them Nupro as well.  I definitely recommend those feeding kibble to give Nupro with it.  They will send you a free sample, if you call them.  After doing a lot of research on it before hand I had a sample sent out.  Kenzo loved it, did not leave one bit of it in his bowl.  I then ordered  5 lbs worth which lasted awhile.  Just recently I ordered 20 lbs of it.  Great stuff!
