Well this is more or less a question and if anyone has any answers please feel fre to comment.

My Boerboel (Apollo) is 17months now but he is only about 120lbs. To me that seems alittle small, but I dont think anything is wrong with him. He eats great, he exercises, and his attitude is still the same. (playful and very loveable) My wife and I are fairly new to the breed and we want to make sure we are doing things right and everything we read online says males are much larger than that. So f there any experienced breeders out there or anyone with some words of wisdom, we would greatly appreciate it.

Hello Drummers, thanks for the post.  It depends if you are talking about the boerboel of yesterday or today.  Boerboels from what I have gathered were never as big as they are now.  They were and still are a farmers dog in South Africa breed for function first and not size.  However things have changed over time, and there has been I guess a demand for the BIG dog.  Most places unfortunately feel big is better, so there is money to be made there.  Also with most people in the US living in cities they have no place for a true working boerboel.  A farmers boerboel should always have a job to do, thats what they were made for.  I would not say your boerboel is small.  Any dog over 100lbs is in no way small :)  You should not worry about his size.  He sounds like he is a very happy healthy boerboel, I wish you all the best with him.  Please share any photos you may have, would love to see him.
thank you so much this info has been helpful. I should have some new pictures of Apollo up today. :)
I have a 16 month old boy and he is 120 lbs as well. He is small, but a great dog and I love him a lot.
Your boy sounds a perfect wheight. All these claims of how much people's Boerboel weigh are almost AWLAYS made up. When you finally go and put the dog on the scale, he is at least 20kg's lighter than waht the breeder told you. They are "guessing" these weights, and cashing in on the uninformed public that want oversized massive monster dogs - that is NOT a Boerboel. A Boerboel is and active agile farmdog, and a dog that is 200 punds cannot and will NEVER be that.
Keep your boy lean and healthy and most importantly love him to bits and train him well.
Midhad Kubu is not small, he is perfect man! :)
I have seen what I thought was a big bb and he turned out to be 143lb and he is 8 yrs old. He is perfect and I would not want a dog to be bigger than that unless he is balanced and even then there is a limit.

bringing this thread back from way gone ......But I just want to share that my boy also grows VERY slowly compared to what I see everywhere. I always wondered how on earth could they be so young and so heavy.... Mine (Simba) is now 15 months old and weighs in at just over 104 lbs

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting.  Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy.  First off have you taken her to the vet?  Do they know of the situation?  Have they taken a urine sample?  If your girl has a UTI…"

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
