I wish people had a little common sense when it comes to OTHER peoples dogs.

Today I took Cane to Petco's.  We walk in and I notice a mom and son (about 2 years old) at the check out.  All of a sudden this little boy comes up to Cane like he is going to hit her, I stopped him and asked where his mother was at.  He pointed to the check out line.  This little boy continues to try to pet Cane, then he sits on the floor near her.  Cane turned around and looked at him, her nose touched his cheek as she was turning back to look at me. He said she bit my face. I had Cane sit and had  him move back some. The mom comes over and said "I'm glad he found you and your dog, I told him he could go pet your dog."  I told her that while Cane is friendly and loves kids not all dogs are that way. She then tells me that if I bring a dog in to a store I should expect that kids will come up to them.  I don't have a problem when people ask to if it is ok to pet her, but don't send your 2 year old child across the store to go pet a 160 pound dog that you don't know.   Has anyone else had this happen, and what if anything did you say to them? I don't want to come off as ugly, but their child will think it's ok to run up to any dog and mess with them, not all dogs want to have kids in their face. The mother seemed to be a little upset, but I was looking out for her son while she was wasn't.  He was there for about 5 minutes before the mom came to get him.  I was at sonic getting a drink one day and Cane was in the back seat of the Escape.  The window was cracked about 6 inches.  The girl gives me my drink, then goes to stick her whole arm through the window.  I said "Cane easy, be good!"  she was like oh um is she not friendly, I said you're lucky she is since you've already had your arm inside the vehicle trying to pet her.  My dad use to always say, "Common sense is not so common!"  and he was right!

Heather, you are right on! People now days really are idiots. They have this pr-conceived notion that they are ENTITLED to any &, everything @ someone elses dis-comfort or expense!
I had a similar experience with a Dachsund owner @ a flea market. I was heading out of vendors pavillion with my 168# intact male (leashed) &, this older man's dog was heading straight for my dog in a barking dominant fit. I calmly got a better hold of my leash &, had Neo sit, hoping anytime soon this guy would stop talking to his wife, sister or who ever she was &, pay attention to what his dog was trying to get into. He was oblivious! Seeing this guy wasn't going to correct/control his heel-biter, I re-directed my boy &, gave the 2 idiots the walkway. While my boy is well mannered, he would NOT tolerate any dog attacking him for any reason. People are crazy.

Hi Heather,  Let me share a funny story, almost identical thing happened to me @Petco as well.  However, I had my 4yo grandson Logan with me. Logan became very upset with another little boy for trying to pet Gemma without asking. He kept telling the boy, NO, NO. The boys mother turned and asked, What Is the problem?  Logan then turned to the mom & said, "I hope you know, My papa says, people need to ask permission before touching"..,  He then proceeded to tell the mother, "I think you should get a clue" (Out of the mouths of babes)The woman just looked & was completely dumbfounded!!  Grabbed her son as she was walking away commented "How rude. some people should teach theirs kids some manners".. I was speechless.  How awesome was that?  I guess the little guy was listening after all.  I could not have been more proud!! Having said that, My daughter was not real pleased with me for allowing Logan to be snippy with an adult.. Even if the woman was wrong.  I agreed with her.  P.S.... I did not tell her that after that happened, I took Logan for Ice Cream!!LOL!!

Yes Heather people are crazy!! Just glad you have control and know your dog. Great Job. I don't know what the mother was thinking. Why would you assume on any dog in a store or any public area is safe. Most people don't have the training or socialization needed. I'm glad you told her so I hope she listens and saves her baby from a possible bite. Great Job Cane!! the pet stores up here are full of wild dogs or is it people. lol

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting.  Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy.  First off have you taken her to the vet?  Do they know of the situation?  Have they taken a urine sample?  If your girl has a UTI…"

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
