When I try to discipline my 3 month old male puppy, sometimes he fights me, growls, tries to bite me and won't listen. I say no, I hold him down, I pull on his collar. I don't let it go, but neither does he for a long time sometimes. What other techniques should I try?

I would just give a small correction from a collar pop then redirect him into a sit or heel (walking). No need in breaking his spirit by holding him down. Later move on to a down stay. But for now A firm no with a pop of the lead and redirect to a known activity like sit or heel. Give body praise after complying with redirected command, just a little at first. This will show him good behavior gets a reward. Good luck and let me know how your make out. Peace.
