Dear Mrs. David/Bonnie,

We don't eat that way, we're vegans.  My brother in law has eaten Nike's food and thought it delicious!

Well thank you. You know he doesn't look like the beasts in SA but I am so thrilled with his disposition in and out of the house so much so that I know I got what I wanted in a BB. He is protective but biddable. He listens when I call him off of a perceived threat. He follows me everywhere so I never have him on a leash around my home which is btw not fenced in. I do live at a dead end street though. I just give a whistle and he comes even though he doesn't go very far. He does love chasing squirrels but we are working on that. Small excited animals do get him hyped up but he isn't aggressive towards them, yet anyway. As far as feeding Nike, I do think you are doing too much work. imo she doesn't need grains at all. Maybe they are making her lethargic. My boy only gets meat and bones and he is thriving. I feed him twice a day. He gets his meaty meal in the a.m. about 1 1/2 lbs. and his bony meal at night about the same lbs. or a little more. I just eyeball it now. I add salmon oil to the meaty meal and he gets a 500 mg capsule of buffered vitamin c and a joint supplement. The only thing he gets cooked is if its leftovers from the table or fish that is leftover from our meal. I also give him liver a couple times a week. I haven't jumped into the organs yet but next order I will. I find it cheaper than buying dog food. Whatever works for you is great. Whatever natural fresh food you feed is better than just commercial kibble. It's all good! One thing with Axel that is a good thing is we have 2 cats and a Chihuahua so he was taught how to act with them. That is probably why he is so good with small dogs. I'm glad you are keeping with the training too. Axel LOVES going!

First of all he is beautiful! I'm glad you are so happy with him, as we are with Nike. She has some aggression issues primarily with scared animals- she considers them food. I used to go to a dog park, but, she hurt a few dogs and now we play outside the park on the grass. Being aggressive with unknown animals is part of the accepted character of BB's and most guardian breeds, so I can't complain. We are trying to work on this with our trainer. At this point she loves all people! Never so much as growled at a person, usually she wiggles in anticipation of meeting. I've also never been with her and felt threatened by anyone. I'm not convinced I'm feeding properly yet. Our new trainer felt she was very lethargic. The training session was after she had her morning exercise wher she runs around fetching a jolly ball for about 1/2 hour at full speed. I was looking for low to medium energy and that's what we have- just what I wanted. We cook her food now- almost exclusively organic chopped meat, and chicken thighs- I mix the chicken about 3-4 to one with chicken livers add quinoa and broccoli, carrots and cauliflower which I fry in olive oil and was adding brown rice- all organic, until consumer reports came out with the arsenic warnings regarding brown rice. I supplement with wild salmon oil, vitamins and minerals, a liquid condroitin sulfate MSM supplement, and a pro-biotic. The hamburger is grass fed organic and I cook that very rare and add that to the food as it is served. I give her Salmon and sardines occasionally with hard boiled eggs inc. the shell. Occasionally I give her my calcium pills. What do you think?

obsessive Water drinking

Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
