steroids helping doesn't necessarily indicate an allergy. Steroids are good at reducing inflammation wether it be from allergies, irritation, infection, etc. But long term use can produce bad side effects. I would consider consulting with a specialist. Most regular vets here in the US do the same thing as your vet did when they don't know the answer...antibiotics, steroids, prescription diet.
How old is Nala? Does she bark excessively? That can cause a laryngitis in an older dog. Does she have any other allergy symptoms?
Please don't take offense to this, but that Hill's food is very poor quality--and I'm sure it was expensive as it is here. The first ingredient is starch. Dogs are carnivores and have no requirement for starches and grains--both of which cause inflammation. Other than not having real meat in the first few ingredients, what also concerns me is the BHA and propyl gallate. BHA is a carcinogen and propyl gallate may be also, but propyl gallate can cause allergic reactions. Check this out: Dangers of Propyl Gallate. Veterinarian Dr. Karen Becker did an article on allergen free diets. You may find this helpful: The Problem With Allergen-Free Diets.

r kibble for any reason that his allergies get worse.. but he also seems to have a problem with tick allergy (have to keep his tick control up every 3wks even when there doesn't seem to be any around.. we also have a pure boxer Blaze who doesn't seem affected by them at all when they are about) and the humidity here really knocks him around (wet season sticks at about 90%).. which is also when he gets sores in his wrinkles around his mouth. We let him sook up in the aircon quite a bit but we cant do that all the time!…
and their is no sign of the allergies disappearing anytime soon. Also he has a strong body order as well as ear infections that i constantly have to deal with. Hopefully by changing his diet, I can eliminate these problems. Do anyone have any suggestions on how I might begin this process of changing him from kibble to raw feeding? I just purchase the book "Raw Dog Food:Make it easy for you and your dog" by Carina beth Macdonald, which helped a lot on simplifying things. However, the diet still leaves me kind of intimidated and concerned about not fulfilling my puppy's dietary needs.…
100%. I am going to have to have a surgery for the hernia when we get him fixed (or broken) lol. The next thing to try is going to be a raw diet. but that will be a slow process.…
earch on BARF, but was not a 100% convinced yet. Then one day I read an article, stating that stools turning white on BARF, and this reminded me when I was a child picking up our dog's poo every day (oh and did we enjoy that. LOL!!) pure white. Thought I'd give it a try, and never looked back. Decided to do my own, and yes, it is more work, but sooo much better. Allergies slowly disappeared, and my dogs have never looked healthier. This togehter with the enjoyment I see at each and every meal, stools being less and NO smell whatsoever - what a bonus!!. To add to this - it's so much cheaper!! I do a mixture of 50/50 raw chicken and raw meat products with 10% raw fruit & veg. The problem I recognised was the quality of the protein. Also some dogs are allergic to maize in pellets. Not saying it will make ALL allergies disappear - depending on what type of allergy. I also add cooked rice now - especially if I see a dog needs to put on some weight. Rice then used as energy source instead of protein. Luckily for me I have a nutrition junky as a partner - bonus again. Wish she can do some wonders for me too. To all out there I say - give it a try - you've got nothing to loose and lots to gain! Dries Lloyd…

d deer processors in your area, you may be able to take their scraps for free. I've been lucky enough to get a good deal of venison this season for dirt cheap.
I started feeding both my dogs raw one year ago. My boy has bad allergies and intestinal issues too. All his intestinal issues are gone now and allergies much better. I procrastinated about starting raw for some time, but I'm so glad I did. My dogs are much healthier because of it.

"Hello Kim welcome and thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you having trouble with your puppy. First off have you taken her to the vet? Do they know of the situation? Have they taken a urine sample? If your girl has a UTI…"
Our 12 week old Boerboel wants to drink water - she has had a urinary infection that we have been treating.. but this is crazy... she searches for mud puddles, rain, condensation... drinks until she is miserable and burping then lays around and pees... potty training is near impossible as she is more interested in water than life... ANY IDEAS? See More
