Working Boerboel

Hi Guys,

Very interested in the Boerboel as a breed, have met and seen a few here in the UK and have been impressed and pleased that the breed hasn't been spoilt (yet!) by indiscriminate breeders (like so many more commonly seen mastiff types) only producing show dogs with no regard to working heritage.

I am looking for a functional guard for my young family and a dog that I can train in PP and bitework.

Are there any breeders out there who temperament test their stock with regards to guarding ability?

Great post James This is what BB's are all about some type of job they are as smart as a 2-3 yr old child so they seen something to do some type of job. I'm not sure who in UK is testing temperment. But if you want a working dog they are around. Good luck and Welcome.

Hey James, There are 2 Working BB. breeders I would not hesitate getting a pup from. Tina @ Tigerberg BB. and Tashi @ Dichotomy BB. Real work bred dogs, not for everyone!! As with any working dog breeder they don't have pups all the time so when they do, be be on their list and ready. Peace Lee

Another breeder here in the US that focuses on the working boerboel would be David Harris at http://www.harrisboerboels.com/ but at the moment looks like his site has been hacked.  Fuller Boerboels does work with their dogs, which you can also view here http://www.fullerboerboels.com/workdogs.html.  Just a couple that come to mind right away, I'm sure there are others.  You would think breeders here would reply to this post.
